The eagerly awaited “Aam ka Mausam” /Mango season , is here! There’s nothing better than indulging in the fresh and juicy sweet flesh of Alphonso Mango! I \’m still reeling from the hangover after indulging into the season’s first Mango ! I love cooking with mango ,especially desserts, be it the Cheesecakes , Trifles or Gateaux! But what I did miss out was making this pure desi dessert that we all love so much! The Mango Mastani ! Native to Pune, this dessert is a Royal Treat! And there’s no better place to indulge in this treat than the”Sujatas” in old Pune! Apparently theres a story behind the unique name of this dessert. The Peshwa of Pune was smitten by his intelligent,elegant and beautiful mistress, named Mastani! So thats where this royal dessert derives its name! If you arent in pune, you still can enjoy this treat at home. It’s simple, made with a handful ingredients, and of course, fresh ripe Mangoes!
