Apart from Khandeshi Recipes, which seldom had any dessert specials, my Mother in Law bequeathed this wonderful and fool proof recipe for her curious sweet toothed Daughter In Law! Though I never got a fomal practical training under her guidance in baking, her ingredients and their proportions made sure these cookies came right everytime you made them.I still remember when she first showed me her portable round electric oven, lying in the store room. There was a twinkle in her eyes when she narrated me , how many batches of nankhatais she had to bake in the limited capacity oven.And how her cake rose and fell flat, everytime! Looking at my prefectly baked cakes brings pride in her eyes. In my attempt to feed my cakes n cookies craving toddler something healthy, made these saffron laced cookies, with homemade clarified butter. The sweet aroma of cardomom and ghee were enough to lure my toddler and my husband in the kitchen and devour those cookies hot and fresh!



  1. Mix flour,semolina,besan and baking powder and set aside. Beat Ghee and sugar till light. Mix the flours into the sugar ghee mixture and add cardomom and saffron milk. Mix together till smooth.
  2. Preheat oven 180 deg C for 10 mins. Grease baking tray . Make small balls from the mixture and flatten slightly. Stick chopped nuts on top. Arrange them on baking tray leaving space in between for expansion. Bake for 10-15 mins, till the edges turn b
