If I ever choose to overlook my favourite Mangoes(which is a task in itself) this summer season does give us some lovely fruits here in India. Each different in taste, texture and appearance, just like India..Diverse and yet common in character ! I remember enjoying juicy “Tadgolas”, a fruit native to the coastal belts of India, and some luscious Lychees with my cousins during vacations. We had a white apple or water apple tree in our compound…a blooming tree implied vacation time.I still get nostalgic when I get back home.Sometimes, I terribly miss my home , especially for the ease and convenience with which fresh and seasonal fruits and veggies were available. Surprisingly,in this scorching heat in Indore, miles away from Mumbai, I still got my hands on lovely plum lychees..thanks to the enterprising young entrepreneurs, who hand delivered every and any fruit and vegetable asked for! With the heat already knocking out the hunger, I chose to fix a quick salad for lunch. The fruits and the salad leaves are not only refreshing, but filling too. You may add other summer fruits , preferably citrus to the salad as well. Planning to add Tadgolas and White apples and a few cuts of fresh tender coconut when I make this one again for my parents in Mumbai!
