Raw Mango Date Cranberry Chutney/ Kairi Khajoor Chutney

Its the season of Mangoes, and unfortunately also a tough time, with the Coronavirus Pandaemic ... 

Best way to do our share of duty is to stay indoors and stay safe. We wil be sharing a lot of recipes using basic staples at home , simple to make at the same time nutritious as well. 

Kairi Khajoor chutney is once such quick and easy recipe which goes perfectly with parathas, dal rice or any snack. Raw mango is rich in Vit C, the iron comes from the jaggery and dates. 

Chutney keeps well for 7 days at room temperature and over 15 days under refrigeration.



  1. Heat oil in a pan and add the methi,kalonji and saunf.
  2. Add grated Kairi, Dates,Cranberry and fry for 2-3 mins to slightly dry out the moisture and soften the mango.
  3. Add the Jaggery and mix.... let it melt completely. At this stage add the Chilli powder and cumin powder
  4. Continue to cook until it thickens a bit. This takes about 6-8 mins. Turn off the heat and cool
  5. Transfer in a clean jar and store.
  6. Alternatives: Apples can also be used in place of kairi. reduce the jaggery to 1/3 cup per cup of grated apple
  7. Use Raisins,Prunes,Apricots along with dates and cranberry, whichever available.
